Uranus, also known as Ouranos, was the embodiment of the sky or heavens, and known as the god of the sky. He was the first son of Gaia (the earth) and he also became her husband. According to Hesiod, their children included the Titans: six sons (Oceanus, Coeus, Crius, Hyperion, Iapetus and Cronus) and six daughters (Theia, Rhea, Themis, Mnemosyne, Phoebe and Tethys). There were other offspring: the Cyclopes, (who were named Brontes, Steropes and Arges and were later known as "one eyed giants"), and also the three monsters known as the Hecatonchires, who each had one hundred hands and fifty heads. Their names were Briareus, Cottus and Gyes. Other offspring of Uranus and Gaia were the Erinyes, who were spirits of punishment and goddesses of vengeance. The Erinyes avenged wrongs which were done to family, especially murder within a family. After Uranus had been castrated, his blood fell to earth (Gaia) and conceived the Giants. These were of monstrous appearance and had great strength. Similiarly, in some versions Aphrodite is believed to have risen from the foam created by the sex organs of Uranus after they were thrown into the sea by his son Cronus.

Uranus was aghast by the sight of his offspring, the Cyclopes and the Hecatoncheires. (In a differing version Uranus was frightened of their great strength and the fact that they could easily depose him). He hid them away in Tartarus (the bowels of the earth) inside Gaia, causing her intense pain. The discomfort became so great that she asked her youngest son, Cronus, to castrate his father, as this would cease his fertility and put an end to more monstrous offspring. To accomplish this deed Gaia made an adamantine sickle, which she gave to Cronus. That night Uranus came to lay with Gaia. And as the sky god drew close, Cronus struck with the sickle and cut off Uranus's genitals. From the blood that fell from the open wound were born nymphs and giants, and when Cronus threw the severed genitals into the sea a white foam appeared. From this foam Aphrodite the goddess of love and desire was born.

A slightly differing version tells of Uranus being so vast that he could cover Mother Earth (Gaia) and easily take advantage of her fruitfulness, but Gaia tired of her exuberant fertility and begged her sons to free her from the excessive embrace of Uranus. All refused except Cronus. Armed with a sickle he castrated Uranus, and the blood which fell from the mutilation gave birth to the Erinyes (Furies), the Giants and the Meliae (Nymphs of the manna ash trees). And when Cronus threw the sickle into the sea the island of Corfu, home of the Phaeacians, sprang up).

After Uranus (the sky) had been emasculated, the sky separated from Gaia (the earth) and Cronus became king of the gods. Later, Zeus (the son of Cronus) deposed his father and became the supreme god of the Greek Pantheon."

This influence can be either quite disruptive or quite liberating, depending largely upon how you have handled your life prior to this time. It usually indicates a sudden rebellion against restriction and old patterns of behavior that have unnecessarily limited you. The problem is that with this influence many people act compulsively and blindly, without forethought or consideration. If you have toed the mark and lived up to everyone else's expectations for years, during this time you might suddenly kick away the traces. Without any apparent thought for anyone else, you might break away, throwing over all thought of duty or responsibility.

This is admittedly an extreme manifestation of this influence. If you are relatively young at this time, you may have intense disagreements with your parents. Actually, for persons of any age, this influence can cause a sudden disruption through or concerning your parents.

If you are not conscious of any effect, but the hidden tensions are still present in your life, you will experience this influence as disruptions in your work or at home. These will force you to reconsider your chosen life direction and to make changes that will allow you greater freedom of self-expression. At the time you may not think of this process in these terms, but that is what is happening.

If your life has been running smoothly and you have been able to pursue your valid life goals, this influence will not be severely disruptive. Some adjustments will occur, but mainly you will discover sudden new opportunities for increased freedom. You will be able to do what you want more easily and with less resistance from yourself and from others.

I myself have an 11th house Uranus/Urania conjunction at 19º Libra, 7 minutes away from being partile. They are opposite a 20º Aries Chiron.

A minha casa 5 (love, criatividade, filhos, fun and games, etc) está a 29º Peixes.

Plus: a minha Lilith está a 29º Sagitário (logo, em quadratura). Se calhar vou começar a comer (Lilith) criancinhas (casa 5)... wow, isto soou mal :/  ('tou a brincar, ok).

Trígonos: ao meu Mercúrio a 27º Caranguejo (já não é mau...).
Mercúrio rege a casa 8 (dinheiro dos outros). Já sei: vou ganhar a lotaria (ver se não me esqueço de jogar em Setembro do próximo ano).

Urano em Arco Solar - 2012

Não sou capaz, é uma obsessão. Pergunto-me se deveria escrever unicamente sobre este tema. Se calhar um dia, quem sabe. But not yet.

A Fevereiro de 2012 o meu Urano em Arco Solar atinge o grau 27º Escorpião. Ora este grau é o Midpoint de 4 planetas, a saber:
- Vénus/Júpiter
- Urano/Nódulo Norte.

Fui ver a um dos meus livrinhos e a interpretação que tinham para quando Urano, por trânsito ou progressão, atinge o Midpoint de Vénus/Júpiter é:
- "Súbita popularidade ou fama".
Fixolas.
Ora o midpoint Exacto é: 27º15' Escorpião. Talvez a fama me dure até Urano em Arco Solar atingir o 27º30' Escorpião, quem sabe, lol. Portanto em Fevereiro de 2012 Vai estar a 27º00'. E em Setembro de 2012 já estará a 27º30' Escorpião.

Portantos! Eu prevejo o seguinte para mim própria!
- Durante 7 meses, de Fevereiro a Dezembro de 2012, eu vou ter uma Súbita fama!
Agora porquê - é que já não sei... só espero que seja por coisas Boas e Positivas! 0_o

(Que não me prendam ou o camandro por andar a roubar carros ou algo assim...)

Em 2012... logo se verá se acertei em alguma coisa ou não...

[Adenda] Só agora me dei conta que Urano em AS estará também em quadratura com o meu MC - portanto poderá ser algo bastante repentino, relacionado com a carreira, vocação...

[Adenda 2] Em 1981 Urano em trânsito atingiu este grau. Eu tinha 8 anos. Não me lembro de nada de relevante que tenha acontecido.

Fui ver quando é que Urano, em Arco Solar, me cruzou o Ascendente - 1998. Não me lembro de que tenha acontecido algo de Relevante nesse ano. Sei que em 1999 ganhei dois prémios literários, mas em 1998 não me lembro de nada.
Porém, em 1995, desisti da Faculdade. Em Janeiro desse ano o Urano em Arco Solar estava a 10º Escorpião - isto leva-me a pensar que, se calhar, o meu Ascendente poderá não ser a 13º Escorpião...
[Por outro lado, em 1999, Urano em AS estava 14º Escorpião... talvez seja esse o verdadeiro grau do meu Ascendente... na verdade não sei.]

Bem, não estou numa de rectificações de mapa natal neste momento (don't. have. the. patiente). Fico por aqui - astrologicamente falando.
