Ceres: ruled by Taurus?

(Excerpt from my book: PRINCE GEORGE’S ASTROLOGICAL PROFILE.)

Venus rules traditionally two signs: Libra and Taurus. There’s a consensus saying that Libra is Venus natural sign and Taurus belongs to another planet, but, which planet? To which new planet one can assign Taurus is still not a consensus in the Astrological field. This sort of thing needs time. Pluto was discovered in the 1930’s and gained dominance over Scorpio, which before was ruled (and still is by those who prefer old rulerships) by Mars. So, when Pluto came along to our consciousness, it was give Scorpio rulership. But what about Taurus? There’s a new planet in the neighbourhood: Ceres. Ceres was given planet status while Pluto was demoted. Now, no one puts Pluto in a corner. I mean No one! To astrologers worldwide it doesn’t matter: Pluto is still a planet. But it’s interesting to think about the symbols and metaphors connected to both planets. In mythology they are enemies: Pluto stole Ceres daughter, Persephone, and married her. Ceres was deeply depressed and stopped doing her work, which is making plants grown on earth. If Ceres didn’t do this everyone would die, humans and gods. So a deal was made between Pluto and Ceres, half the year Persephone spends time with her mother and the other half with her husband. Pluto rules Scorpio, this is well established. I think that Ceres might (might) rule Taurus. Though another earth sign, Virgo, could also possibly be Ceres ruler. I’m more inclined towards Taurus. Why? It seems to make (symbolic) sense:

1) Taurus is apposite Scorpio, so, one possibility of interpreting it is as each other’s “enemy”, though they do have similar traits. Both are fixed signs, stubborn, possessive, and extremely loyal; both are jealous and envious. They also know how to hold a grudge. Hence it seems to me that the daughter, Persephone, passed from mother’s possessive control to husband’s possessive control. However, even if it doesn’t seem to be an evolution, there is. Taurus, sometimes, tends to see people as possessions (I’m Generalizing, ok! No hate mail!), “my car, my house, my son, my bike, my pet”; Scorpio however shares with the other Special person. Scorpio is related to Shared Resources (money but also emotional and spiritual). So, Taurus is more selfish and Scorpio shares his/her resources with that someone special. It’s a progress from “mine” to “ours”. As I was saying, Ceres doesn’t like Pluto and Pluto is not so keen on his dear mother in law, therefore the axis Taurus-Scorpio makes sense. However, although Persephone is now with Pluto, it represent has already been born and cultivated, she harvests - she does not plant the seed, which was already done by someone else (Taurus). So, earth signs: Taurus (fixed)/ Virgo (mutable)/ Capricorn (cardinal). Taurus plants and grows, Taurus is the fertile one; Virgo comes along and Harvests; Capricorn Invests in a long-term frame of mind the harvested crops. Capricorn takes the initiative (cardinal sign) to invest and make the crop grow (by making deals and doing business), it uses the crop, also, to increase his personal status. So, to me, Taurus might (might) rule Ceres. Just as a working template, I propose the following: Ceres rules Taurus; it’s in exile in Scorpio; it’s Exalted in Virgo and in Fall in Pisces. Why Pisces? Because water destroys crops. This, of course, needs research to be confirmed. It’s an initial working hypothesis more of an egalitarian relationship, one of equal, because, no matter what, with Ceres she will always be the daughter - not an equal. (Is my positive bias for Scorpio showing? I hope so, I love them! They rock.)

2) Taurus is fertile - which makes sense in an earth goddess, she makes things grow. Virgo is not fertile, she is barren. Virgo distributes (mutable sign) that which has already been born and cultivated, she harvests - she does not plant the seed, which was already done by someone else (Taurus). It’s an initial working hypothesis.
